LANDMARK STATE CIVIL RIGHTS CASES

Hollingsworth v. County of Orange, OCSC 510865, class action brought with the Youth Law Center of San Francisco as co-counsel against the Orange County Juvenile Hall. This litigation resulted in the end of tying children to their beds as punishment in the Juvenile Hall.

Deborah De May and John Dombrink v. Board of Supervisors for the County of Orange, OCSC 565049, class action litigation brought with the Legal Aid Society of Orange County, which halted the practice of welfare workers running warrant checks on welfare applicants and arresting them.

Serious medical and mental health issues were also involved.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT- NORTHERN DISTRICT

Conrique v. San Benito County, C-92 20598 RMW ( PVT), a   lighting  Federal class-action lawsuit against the San Benito County Jail which reduced overcrowding enough so that excess prisoner did not have to sleep on the floor which had been the case for many years. This lawsuit lasted two weeks from the first interview of an inmate to the dispositive court hearing.
