Richard P. Herman has been practicing in private practice and in recent years has focused on Civil Rights and Criminal Defense in Orange County, California, since he became a member of the bar in 1972. Mr. Herman has handled matters including but not limited to significant institutional reform litigation, usually in the Federal Courts, in association with the American Civil Liberties Union, Prisoners Rights Union, Youth Law Center, and Legal Aid Society of Orange County. He also handles significant personal injury practice, including Wrongful Death, and significant Criminal Defense Practice including 3 strikes and murder cases. He has lectured on prisoners’ rights at Western State Law School. He has also taught Federal Rules for State Court Practitioners for MCLE for the Orange County Federal Bar Association. He has given MCLE ethics lectures. He taught the Federal Court half of the Bridging the Gap program for over 10 years.
